This trip was very
instructive to me, because before this visit I knew very little about
China and Peking. Of course it still is very small piece of all, what
I saw and know now, but I have some kind of picture.
I have compared China with Russia, because they are both big countries
with communistic history and they are controlling the people. But there
are a lot of differences, too. In Russia people aren’t so familiar
in shops and restaurants, usually, but in China they mostly are. And
in Russia there is a little bit frightening atmosphere, threat of violence
is there and you don’t know what police men want and you don’t
want to have anything to do with them. In China I felt very safe, and
police men wasn’t scary... And it is very clean, tidy country
– or big streets of Peking are clean and tidy.
But of course there are a lot of things that tourist can’t see.
We know, that there are a lot shit happening in China. But still, it
is nice place for tourist.
The speed is huge, when they get rid of all old things. It is sad. We
saw hutongs, old low traditional blocks of houses, but they are destroying
them all the time, and when there are the Olympic games they don’t
exist almost at all. They build a skyscrapers and highways. And in some
places it is hard to find a Chinese restaurant... There are McDonalds’,
KFC:s and so on.
Well, this e-mail is very Chinese, but next time something else!
