Expo : Sketch From Spain # 1- 100

On view are also several new sculptures, drawings and collages, all recently done and thematically related. This instalation is not aiming to replace an exhibition of the original paintings, its meant to be an introduction.

I am presenting hundred DIN A3 size fotocopies that show one hundred paintings titled Sketch From Spain # 1- 100.
(These paintings were executed between 2000 and 2003. We see a sketchy view on Spain and on other parts of the world from the perspectiv of living in Spain.)
I painted the paper for the fotocopies pink and trimmed the edges, to make it look like hundred slices of a cooked Phoenix, the one who did not make it out of the ashes.
There will be the projection of a one hour video that shows the paintings.
"...This cycle of hundred paintings show private lfe, fun, popular images and references to art history and global and local politics, reminisciences, dreams and nightmares. What ultimatly impressed me most is the present stage of the world. Its an explosive situation that exceed all frames. The exaggerated waste of natural resources in a world where man continues to exploit and kill other men and animals. Our abundant and rich world where some have to eat plenty and other go hungry..."
