Lori
Ellison:" I started making paintings that had repetitive motifs that took
me up to six month to complete, working on them for six or eight hours a day.
You know how, when you´re
driving too much, you still see the road when you close your eyes? I´d
go to bed and see those motifs. In lecture classes in school, or working, I
found myself doodling in notebooks. I´ve been doing them for about seven
years now. Size-wise, it´s easy to carry them around. I get cabin fever
beeing in my studio a lot. I lived in France for five years, and I did a lot
of writing letters and stuff in cafés around people, not alone in my
studio. People think I´m nervous or obsessive, but really, what I do is
not antisocial, it´s totally social. I meet people that way, and they
talk to me about what I´m doing."
